Office Party Tips – How To Celebrate Thanksgiving Better at the Office

Wouldn’t it be nice to show your employees and your clients how thankful you are to have them. November is the perfect time for doing that. Thankfully, many companies are closed on Thanksgiving Day. But that doesn’t mean you can’t still bring the festive spirit to your office. Thanksgiving revolves around two main things: food and giving back. Both activities can be easily incorporated into an office party. Just a few ideas for you…

Have a Potluck Party

Make sure everyone signs up for what they plan to bring so the meal is complete. No office Thanksgiving party is complete without food. Or maybe management could simply a catered lunch for everyone. Management! get your employees involved, let them vote on the menu.

Do the Anti-Turkey Lunch

Have a Taco Bar, Pizza Party or Vegan Meal and do not forget the Smoothie Bar. Or maybe a tailgate break in the middle of the afternoon. Just snacks and wear your favorite teams shirt or hat that day.

FOOD!

Create some friendly competition with a cooking contest. Award prizes for different categories, like best pie or side dish. Or, do something different, like a chili cook-off. Ask employees to bring recipe cards with whatever dish they bring. Everyone will enjoy sharing recipes and learning how to make something new. Plus eating all the goodies.

Don’t Forget the “Giving” in Thanksgiving

Management could have a Coffee and Smoothie Bar in the morning or afternoon and ask employees to bring in nonperishable food items to donate. Have a departmental competition and who ever brings in the most items can choose the charity and deliver the donation.

Collect coats, clothing, items for pets, or money to give to a charity . Each department can choose a separate organization, just as long as everyone gets in the giving spirit. Or take an afternoon off work to participate in a volunteer project, and let employees choose a worthy cause. WE are sure many of your employees are involved in a neighborhood project or a church project or a civic project and would love to have some helping hands for an afternoon.

Say Thank You in Many Ways

Choose an office wall and decorate for Thanksgiving. Encourage employees to write down what they’re thankful for. Management should use this time to thank their employees for their hard work and dedication throughout the year. Try to make it as personalized as possible. Say thanks to anyone who has contributed to the company’s success — whether it’s customers, vendors or others. A coffee/smoothie bar would be a great way to thank those people!

Decorate and Have a Parade

No celebration is complete without decorations. Create a festive Thanksgiving environment with pumpkins, fall foliage, turkeys, and cornucopias. On the last day of the work week have your own office Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, where each department creates a parade activity, maybe a float, maybe a band, maybe a dance routine. Then, vote on the best one and give out prizes.

Host a Party After the Parade

This is the time Management could invite clients to watch the parade and host a party with seasonal concoctions, like cider or pumpkin spiced drinks and don’t forget seasonal smoothies or coffee drinks!
