Boost Your Office Productivity With a Free Lunch and Coffee!

Companies that make an effort to recognize their employees as contributors typically rate highly on employee engagement surveys. These surveys measure all manner of working conditions from facilities and job tasks to management style and employee empowerment. Employees who are more engaged – that is, want to come to work and do a good job – are more productive. This, very often, drives productivity and improves financial results.

Boost Your Office Productivity With a Free Lunch

According to a Forbes survey, 60% of employees interviewed said that having company-provided food around the office “would make them feel more valued and appreciated.” They say there’s no such thing as a free lunch –but, sometimes that’s exactly what an office needs. Employees are one of the most important stakeholder groups in a business, so it’s wise to show them they are appreciated (beyond just the paycheck.) But, if a business is going to do this, someone has to be in charge.  How do you find something that will appeal to everyone, but won’t be a chore for you? Pizza every Friday is not the answer.  Here are some ideas for using recurring catering orders to simplify your workload, while still building fun, reliable, and delicious meals for your employees.

Build-Your-Own Bars

Let your employees customize their lunch with a build-your-own bar. It is a safe option for an office with a variety of dietary preferences. A build-your-own bar is a perfect solution for recurring orders because you can order the same ingredients each week but everyone can customize their lunch to their preference. A pasta bar, a  fajita bar, or a salad bar are all well suited for a weekly build-your-own bar.

Don’t Skimp on the Drinks

It’s all about the drinks! Coffee and Smoothies are perfect choice all year ’round. Black coffee and soft drinks just don’t say you appreciate your employees like hand crafted espresso and smoothies! And it’s very affordable.

Build-Your-Own Box

Individuals can fill their own box. You would provide oven roasted turkey, Virginia baked ham, tender roast beef, cheese, tomatoes, and bread. That means they don’t have to eat the same thing every week (unless they want to). Provide chips, fresh fruit, and a small salad.

Use a Rotating Caterer List

There are so many caterers to choose from these days as nearly every restaurant will cater a lunch. Choose four local caterers and rotate so that each week of the month a different caterer would be providing lunch. This will add variety to your lunches but less worry and work to setting up the lunches. Ask your employees to let you know what they think of the caterers, review their feedback to create a rotating list of available caterers, and then set up recurring orders each month.

Use A Fun Food Theme

Incorporate a spread pertaining to a theme. Maybe one week of each month have a theme lunch. How about a Mexican fiesta, summer barbecue, or Chicago Pizza or Hot Dog Week.  And don’t forget drinks for each of your events.  Do something special like a coffee or smoothie bar!

Enjoy the Outdoors

Sometimes a change of scenery is all it takes to spice up your weekly lunch.  Once an awhile, skip the regular planned lunch and have a picnic! Serve fried chicken, potato salad, baked beans, and yummy desserts.

These are just a few suggestions to best incorporate a few unpredictable elements into your workweek lunch. Use your creativity; the possibilities are endless!
